I want people to hear my story and know that magic is real and to never loose sight of what really matters not money not time but love unconditional unselfish no egos no secrets honest genuine compassionate plutonic love That’s what matters and to know that even when it feels like someone has ripped that love from your stomach and your heart feels like it’s been attached to a million bricks and cast into the ocean life goes on and the only thing left to do is forgive and continue loving and it sucks and it hurts and you’ll cry but at least your not alone cause I feel you.
I haven’t been making any music lately due to computer issues, but I have been making a lot of mixes, some of which will be broadcast on WHPK, in tribute to some of the producers on soundcloud who are making reallllly original music. These are all producers who have really changed the way i think about electronic music as well as music in general. What’s really is impresive is the way that all these guys managed to develop unique, personalized styles of sampling and beatmaking that are still dilla-influenced, but are not dilla-dominated. everyone of these beat has a personality, a mood, a feeling, a sense of humor and a sense of the past. it’s not just cutting up and looping a random soul sample, it’s music with a pulse. it’s also not just hip-hop anymore, though all of these sounds are deeply indebted to rap, it’s something else, something based more around self-expression and thankfully less around imitation and cultural appropriation. I’ve been follow all of the producers for over a year now, on a range of platforms, in sound and in texts, and feel weirdly personally connected with them. So yeah, i really hope these vanguard vibes find some sympathetic ears. Enjoy!
